It Is Happening Again!!! South Africans Burn, Destroy Nigerians Houses In SA… Tell A Friend To Tell A Friend To Be Careful!

It Is Happening Again!!! South Africans Burn, Destroy Nigerians Houses In SA… Tell A Friend To Tell A Friend To Be Careful!

At least 15 houses either belonging or rented by immigrants, especially Nigerians, have been burnt by angry residents in Rosettenvile, south of Johannesburg.

The residents are reported to be angry that foreign nationals had turned the neighbourhood into a drug haven.

According to Africa Review, some shops belonging to foreign nationals in the area were also looted on Sunday.

South African residents in the area claim Nigerians had illegally taken over most property and turned them into drug and prostitution dens.

Marc Gbaffou, African Diaspora Forum (ADM) chairperson, confirmed the attacks and blamed Herman Mashaba, Johannesburg mayor, for his inflammatory comments.

Early last December, Mashaba told a media conference that illegal immigrants got there criminally and should be treated as such.

During a visit to Rosettenville on Friday, he made claims that foreign nationals were using girls as young as nine as prostitutes in ‘drug houses’.

“According to community members, these homes are illegally occupied by Nigerian foreign nationals who run the homes as brothels and have girls as young as nine years old working as prostitutes,” he said.

“Many of the women in these brothels are also alleged to have no official identification documentation.”

Gbaffou said it was reckless for the mayor to make such a statement without proof.

“What proof does he have that foreigners are running these brothels? His remarks are very inflammatory, and it makes no difference that he has diverted from illegal immigrants to drug peddling. It is very dangerous and we see it as propaganda of hatred,” he said.

A community leader, Andile Tshem, called on residents to desist from violence, adding that it was high time law enforcement agents took action against criminals.

“We don’t encourage this at all, you cannot correct a wrong with another wrong. South African people must not be living on the streets when foreigners are using houses as brothels,” he said.

Police have arrested a man found in one of the houses that was set alight in Rosettenville.

Some Nigerians in Johannesburg took to Twitter to express their anger.

FG Recovers Another $151million And N8billion Looted Funds

FG Recovers Another $151million And N8billion Looted Funds

The Federal Government has recovered another $151million and N8billion from three sources.

The recovery of the looted funds comes hot on the heels of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC’s recovery of $9.8million and 72,000 pounds sterling from the Kaduna home of a former NNPC GMD, Andrew Yakubu.

Revealing the recent recovery which was made possible through whistle-blowers, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed in a statement released on Sunday in Lagos noted that the recovered loot is not part of the cash recovered from the former NNPC GMD.

Lai Mohammed said: “The biggest amount of $136.7m was recovered from an account in a commercial bank, where the money was kept under an apparently fake account name.

“This was followed by N7bn and $15m from another person and N1bn from yet another.”

Lal Mohammed further noted that the whistle-blower policy instituted by the president Muhammadu Buhari administration has started yielding positive result in recovering the funds mindlessly looted by officials during the previous administration.

He said: “The whistle-blower policy is barely two months old and Nigerians have started feeling its impact, how a few people squirrelled away public funds.

“It is doubtful if any economy in the world will not feel the impact of such mind-boggling looting of the treasury as was experienced in Nigeria.

“Yet whatever has been recovered so far, including the $9.2m by the EFCC, is just a tip of the iceberg.”

The minister further reminded Nigerians of the whistle blower policy adding that “if there is a voluntary return of stolen or concealed public funds or assets on the account of the information provided, the whistle blower may be entitled to anywhere between 2.5 per cent (Minimum) and 5.0 per cent (Maximum) of the total amount recovered.”

Burnley 1 – 1 Chelsea [Premier League] Highlights 2016/17

Chelsea missed the chance to move 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League as Robbie Brady’s stunning free-kick earned a 1-1 draw for Burnley at Turf Moor.

With Tottenham losing 2-0 at Liverpool on Saturday, the door was left open for runaway leaders Chelsea to extend their advantage.

And Antonio Conte’s men were fast out of the blocks, with Pedro applying the finish to a lightning counter-attack in just the seventh minute.

However, 28 of Burnley’s 29 points prior to the match had come at home this season and Sean Dyche’s men put in a typically full-blooded display that yielded an equaliser through Brady’s exquisite free-kick on his first start for the club.

Chelsea peppered the Burnley box, but the Blues failed to break down a stubborn home defence and Burnley arguably had the better chances to win the game, with Matt Lowton and Andre Gray missing fine opportunities.

Despite the draw, Chelsea are now 10 points clear of Arsenal and Spurs, while Burnley are rewarded for their endeavour by moving up a place to 12th.

Germany Elects ‘anti-Trump’ Frank-Walter Steinmeier as New President

Germany Elects ‘anti-Trump’ Frank-Walter Steinmeier as New President

Former foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, billed as Germany’s “anti-Trump” was elected Sunday as the new ceremonial head of state.

The 61-year-old, who regularly polls as Germany’s most popular politician, will represent the EU’s top economy abroad and act as a kind of moral arbiter for the nation.

His Social Democrats (SPD) hope the appointment will boost their fortunes just as their candidate Martin Schulz, the former European parliament president, readies to challenge Chancellor Angela Merkel in September elections.

Steinmeier received 931 of 1,239 valid votes after Merkel’s conservatives, lacking a strong candidate of their own, agreed to back him to replace incumbent Joachim Gauck, 77, a former pastor from ex-communist East Germany.

The vote was held in Berlin’s glass-domed Reichstag building by a special Federal Assembly, made up of national lawmakers and electors sent from Germany’s 16 states — among them deputies but also artists, writers, musicians and national football coach Joachim Loew.

With his snowy white hair, round glasses and dimpled smile, Steinmeier is one of Germany’s best-known politicians, having twice served as top diplomat under Merkel for a total of seven years.

Though the trained lawyer is usually measured in his speech, in the thick of last year’s US election campaign Steinmeier labelled Donald Trump a “hate preacher”.

Chelsea Can’t Be Caught Says Mourinho

Chelsea Can’t Be Caught Says Mourinho

Mourinho does not think Chelsea will slip up and can be caught, after his side kept pace with the top four.

United won 2-0 against Watford, thanks to goals from Mata and Martial and are just one point off the top four.

Chelsea visit Burnley on Sunday and with 14 games left in the league Mourinho does mot think they can be caught.

Mourinho told Sky Sports when asked if United themselves can catch Chelsea: “Honestly I don’t think so. Why? Because Chelsea are a very good defensive team, they defend very well and defend with lots of players, very good players, and are very well organised.

“I think in this situation, a very defensive team wins the title with counter-attack goals, set pieces goals, and individual goals from talented players. So I don’t think they’re going to let it slip.

“But football is football, you never know.”
