An early UK election will be held on June 8 as more than two-thirds of members of Parliament (MPs) agreed the move in a vote on Thursday.

The vote came just one day after Prime Minister Theresa May called for a general election in June as division within the UK government has posed a threat to making a success of Brexit.

The UK’s prime minister could call an election at will until the Fixed-Term Parliaments Act was passed in 2011, which scheduled a general election every five years. The next general election was expected in 2020. However, a snap election can be held if two-thirds of the members agree on an early election.

Yin normally earns one yuan (15 US cents) for an individual or five yuan for a group photo. She says she plays Mickey Mouse to raise money for the treatment of her daughter-in-law, who was injured in a car accident last year and remains in a critical condition in hospital.

China’s medical care system provides a basic health insurance that generally pays about half of medical costs, but that ratio can be lower for serious or chronic illnesses. As Yin's story demonstrates, some people can still struggle to pay their medical bills.

Tennis superstar Serena Williams, who announced on Wednesday that she is pregnant, will not play again in 2017 but will return to the tour in 2018, her spokeswoman said.

Williams, 35, "definitely" would not be able to play again this year but "looks forward to returning in 2018”, Reuters quoted Kelly Bush Novak as saying.

Williams revealed the news of her pregnancy on Wednesday with a teasing Snapchat post captioned "20 weeks".
The post, quickly highlighted in US media, showed her in a yellow swimsuit with a baby bump. The timing means Williams was already expecting when she won her record-setting 23rd Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January, where she beat her elder sister Venus in the final.

Williams cited a knee injury in pulling out of tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami in March. Her inactivity saw her drop to second in the world rankings. But she is set to regain the top spot from Germany's Angelique Kerber on Monday when the latest standings are published.

Armed with her Ova Sabi band and dancers, she delivered a electrifying 90 minutes set; performing songs from her arsenal of hits, and further wowed fans by bringing out international saxophonist Jean Baptiste Moundele for "Na Gode", afro R&B singer Dil to sing the romantic duet "Temperature" and Marvin for the French version of "Kissing". The concert also saw breath-taking performance from phenomenal French diva Djany; who opened for Miss Alade.

An 11-year-old Chinese boy survived a whole night some 15 meters below ground level after accidentally falling into a well.

The boy was playing next to the well in the city of Beihai, south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on Wednesday when he plunged into the shaft, landing in a pool of water.
The kid had to spend the whole night waiting for help, which came the next day. Firefighters threw a rope to pull him out, but the frail boy had no energy to hang onto the cable. One rescuer volunteered to go down the well, and bring him up the surface. The boy, fortunately, sustained no serious injuries.
