She was matched with Johns Hopkins Hospital to specialize in neurological surgery, making her the first black female neurosurgeon in the hospital.
She is the first physician in her family and managed to complete a hectic process which includes lengthy paperwork, and on-site interviews with hospitals, who then provide a ranked list of their top choices.
Nancy hopes to go back to Ghana over the course of her career to help build sustainable surgical infrastructure.
