I’m Bringing Back Manchester United DNA – Mourinho

I’m Bringing Back Manchester United DNA – Mourinho

Mourinho

The Manchester United manager insists he is restoring the club’s DNA, defending his indifferent start to the Premier League season since replacing Louis van Gaal.

The former Chelsea boss has defended his indifferent start to life at Old Trafford, insisting he is laying the building blocks for his philosophy after Louis van Gaal’s reign.

Mourinho takes his team to Goodison Park for Sunday’s clash against Everton, with United 14 points off the pace.

United have drawn four consecutive Premier League fixtures at Old Trafford to allow Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal to pull clear in the race for the title.
But Mourinho has defended his start in Manchester as United look to move on from Van Gaal’s possession-based philosophy and zonal defending.

“I only care about the way we play … keep the faith in the way we are playing and try to have better results, and let’s see where that ends,” Mourinho said.

“I am here to build the future, and build the future with a certain DNA, with a certain style. It is one of the items [of the job], but there are others, and some other items are also related to football results, objectives and targets.

“So I would not be just happy with that. I demand a lot from myself, I demand a lot from the people that work with me, I demand a lot from the players, and I like the clubs to demand a lot from myself, too. So I cannot say that I would be just happy with that item. I want more.”

He continued: “We play now in between the opponents’ lines. We look forward, our defensive line is very high. Our central defenders don’t follow the man, they defend zonal.

“There are different styles of playing football. We try to follow our style. I have never had a team with so much ball possession. I have never had a team with so much control of a game by having the ball. I have never had a team that creates so many chances.

“If we manage to have all of those with some more pragmatism in front of the goal and in a defensive process, then we will be very, very good.”

Ex-Chelsea star says club paid him £50,000 to keep s*x abuse ordeal quiet

Ex-Chelsea star says club paid him £50,000 to keep s*x abuse ordeal quiet

After 40 years of torment, Gary Johnson hoped he would get justice for the abuse he says he suffered as a Chelsea FC youth player.

Yet the ex-forward, who said he was s*xually assaulted by chief scout Eddie Heath hundreds of times in three years, said he had no success with the police and that the Professional Footballers Association did not return his calls. He felt he had no other option but to approach his super-rich former club, which refused to accept any blame but last year paid him £50,000 to keep quiet. Now, in an exclusive interview, Gary, 57, bravely waives his right to anonymity to share his experiences to support other victims of the soccer abuse scandal. Gary, part of Chelsea’s first team from 1978 to 81, said Heath groomed him and sexually assaulted from the age of 13. He said: “I felt shame, I felt my childhood had been taken away. I spent my late teens in turmoil, absolute turmoil.

And speaking of the payment from his old club, he said: “I think that they were paying me to keep a lid on this. “Millions of fans around the world watch Chelsea. They are one of the biggest and richest clubs in the world.

All their fans deserve to know the truth about what went on. I know they asked me to sign a gagging order and how many others are there out there? “They may have paid others for their silence. I hope and pray no clubs are allowed to cover this up – no one should escape justice. We need total transparency now for the good of the game.”

This week Chelsea waived the clause in Gary’s settlement banning him from speaking about abuse after after details of his claim were leaked to the media.

Cristiano Ronaldo Is Now 12 Goals Away From An Incredible Record Messi Can’t Beat… See Full Details!

Cristiano Ronaldo Is Now 12 Goals Away From An Incredible Record Messi Can’t Beat… See Full Details!

Ronaldo will surely break this record and advance it. Beware Leo Messi though!

Ronaldo closes in on incredible record

The Portuguese superstar has done an incredible job of reinventing himself at Real Madrid as a goal scorer supreme.

It was only towards the end of his time at Manchester United that Ronaldo played through the middle and stopped hugging the touchline as one of the most electrifying wingers seen for some time.

At Real Madrid, certainly in the last couple of years, Ronaldo has refined his game as a pure number 9 with excellent heading ability and finishing skills.

Just 12 goals to go

Thanks to his incredible goal scoring feats for Real Madrid, including the statistic below, Ronaldo now has an incredible opportunity.

Cristiano Ronaldo is incredible

In the all-time record of top goal scorers from the top 5 European leagues, Ronaldo has just two men in front of him.

Legendary German striker Gerd Muller has 365 goals. Whilst former Spurs man Jimmy Greaves has 366.

354 goals

Ronaldo is on 354 goals and needs just 12 more to go equal with Greaves.

Considering the form Ronaldo is in for Real Madrid, it would not be a huge surprise if he did it within 10 La Liga games.

As a result, Ronaldo should break the record in early February.

Meanwhile, Leo Messi has 321 goals in La Liga and whilst Ronaldo may take the record initially, don’t be surprised if the Argentine eventually wins this one as well…

Most goals ever in top 5 leagues Europe:

366 ― Jimmy Greaves
365 ― Gerd Müller
354 ― Cristiano Ronaldo
321 ― LEO MESSI
317 ― Steve Bloomer

Mourinho Was Well Aware That Manchester United ‘wasn’t an easy job’ – Faria

Mourinho Was Well Aware That Manchester United ‘wasn’t an easy job’ – Faria

MOURINHO

Faria was speaking at a news conference after the 1-1 draw against West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday, when Mourinho was sent to the stands for kicking a water bottle in frustration during the first half after midfielder Paul Pogba had been booked for diving.

United have now settled for four straight home draws in the league since the start of October in their first season under Mourinho’s leadership.

“We knew it wasn’t an easy job,” Faria said. “We knew we had a lot of work in front of us.

“If it was easy, the ones who were before us would also have won it. We know it is a big club, we are used to big clubs, and we know how to take a team to win.

“We believe in the players, we believe in the team, we believe that things will change.”

Faria took charge of the side after Mourinho’s dismissal and, when asked about what they had spoken about, the United assistant said that they discussed “things that are important” on the field, rather than the manager’s dismissal.
When asked about the incident which upset Mourinho, Faria said: “I think everyone saw. It’s part of the game. It was a refereeing decision so there’s nothing to say.

“Everyone saw the frustration in a situation that should have been a free kick to us but was given as a yellow to Paul.”

United had fallen behind in the second minute when Jesse Lingard gave away a free kick, allowing Dimitri Payet to deliver for Diafra Sakho, who took advantage of poor marking from Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swede scored the home team’s equaliser though, heading in from Paul Pogba’s classy delivery.

Discussing the display against West Ham, Faria said: “We were the best team on the pitch. We had no tactical issues during the game; it was the game we expected it to be. Defensively we were compact and offensively we created chances to win comfortably.

“It’s not happening. We are frustrated with that. One day it will have to happen for us. We’ll start winning.”

Burnley 1 – 2 Manchester City [Premier League] Highlights 2016/17

Pep Guardiola’s men are top of the Premier League once again following the match-wining exploits of their striker, who was vital in overturning the hosts’ early lead

Sergio Aguero was the hero of Manchester City’s 2-1 Premier League victory at Burnley on Saturday, netting a brace either side of half time to secure a comeback win for Pep Guardiola’s men.

Dean Marney had put Eddie Howe’s hosts ahead in the 14th minute, who beat Claudio Bravo with an unstoppable volley after City failed to clear their lines from a free-kick.

But following Yaya Toure’s match-winning brace against Crystal Palace last weekend, it was Aguero’s turn to be decisive as he equalised with a close-range strike before the break.

And the Argentine struck again in the second half as Fernandinho laid the ball on for his team-mate to bury Burnley with another strike from inside the area.

Burnley, hindered by the loss of Marney and Johann Gudmundsson to injury, were unable to avoid a third loss at a typically vociferous Turf Moor this season despite a vast improvement from Monday’s 4-0 thrashing at West Brom.

John Terry Suffer Fresh Injury Blow, Ruled Out For Up To 3 Weeks

Terry Suffer Fresh Injury Blow, Ruled Out For Up To 3 Weeks

John Terry

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has revealed the team’s captain John will miss Saturday’s clash with Tottenham and could be sidelined for the next three weeks.

The defender, 36 next month, has made one substitute appearance since the Blues began a sixmatch winning in the Premier League, scoring 17 goals without reply.

His only start since returning from an ankle injury was in the EFL Cup loss at West Ham in October.
Given his lack of game time, Terry featured for Chelsea’s development squad in Monday afternoon’s 32 win over Southampton. But he has now picked up a muscular injury and is set for a spell on the sidelines.

“For tomorrow I don’t have available John Terry and (John) Obi Mikel,” Conte said.

“John has a muscular problem in his gluteus and Mikel also has a muscular problem. [Terry] did it in training and will be out for two or three weeks.”

Asked if Terry’s setback is frustrating, Conte replied: “Yeah. But he needs to recover from his injuries and then he must start training sessions and have good form.

“He recovered really well from his last injury and now he needs to stop again.”

Chinese Club Offers To Pay Mikel Obi N66million Every Week To Play For Them… Read Full Story

Chinese Club Offers To Pay Mikel Obi N66million Every Week To Play For Them… Read Full Story

Chelsea player, Mike Obi might be on his way to China after a Chinese club offered to pay him a whopping N66 million a week to play for them.

Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel could be heading to China on a deal reportedly worth £170,000 (N66 million) a week. According to Owngoalnigeria.com the out-of-favour Chelsea player might take the offer.

It was gathered that the Shanghai SIPG reportedly contacted his representatives with the offer after the last international weekend. It is likely the Nigerian international might take the offer considering that he is yet to play a game at Chelsea under new manager Antonio Conte.

Last season Mikel turned down a move to Shanghai Shenhua opting to remain with Chelsea, where he would be a free agent next summer, a condition that gives him the authority to talk to interested clubs in January.

A nominal transfer fee in the region of £2-5m would be paid to Chelsea for the midfielder, who is currently the second longest serving player in the team behind captain John Terry.

Mikel currently earns £80,000 a week at Chelsea, a figure that makes him the highest earning Nigerian player in Europe, but second behind Obafemi Martins who plays for Shanghai Shenhua in China on the overall list.

Manchester United 4 – 0 Feyenoord [Europa League] Highlights 2016/17 | DOWNLOAD VIDEO

Manchester United 4 – 0 Feyenoord [Europa League] Highlights 2016/17

Wayne Rooney became Manchester United’s record European goalscorer in his side’s impressive 4-0 Europa League win over Feyenoord at Old Trafford.

Rooney linked up with Zlatan Ibrahimovic to score his 39th continental goal for United late in the first half, moving him past the mark he previously shared with Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The strike also moved him to within just one of Bobby Charlton’s overall club goalscoring record, a welcome boost after he was criticised following the emergence of images appearing to show him drunk while on international duty with England.

Rooney then played his part in an excellent team goal after the break, setting up Juan Mata to score shortly before Brad Jones’ own goal and a Jesse Lingard effort in stoppage time sealed a convincing win as United cruised home without being troubled by Feyenoord, who had beaten them earlier in the campaign.

A third home victory in Group A leaves Jose Mourinho’s side needing a point to be certain of qualifying for the last 32 going into the final round of group matches, when they will play Zorya Luhansk.

United now sit a point behind group leaders Fenerbahce and crucially two clear of Feyenoord – with those two teams facing each other in the last set of fixtures.

The Dutch side know they have to beat Fener if they are to stand any chance of progressing.

United made six changes to their team, but still fielded a strong line-up, with Ibrahimovic back from suspension, captain Rooney returning to the first XI and Henrikh Mkhitaryan handed only his second start for the club.

Paul Pogba forced Jones to tip his long-range shot over the crossbar in the first chance of note, with Michael Carrick’s effort from the resulting corner only just dealt with by a combination of the goalkeeper and captain Dirk Kuyt.

Feyenoord made a strong response, with United keeper Sergio Romero – in for David de Gea – saving from Rick Karsdorp and then making an impressive but unorthodox stop with his leg from Kuyt’s follow-up after the home defence had failed to clear the danger.

But it was United who made the breakthrough after 35 minutes, with Rooney making club history.

Rooney started move himself down the left and found Ibrahimovic before collecting the return pass and dinking a clever finish over Jones from close-range as the assistant referee’s flag stayed down despite the visitors’ appeals for offside.

Mkhitaryan almost made his mark with an excellent solo run, but was denied a free-kick and potential red card for Jens Toornstra after going down under his challenge just outside the box.

Mata’s impressive 20-yard chip was kept out by a back-pedalling Jones, while Mkhitaryan lashed an effort against the side-netting after linking up with Ibrahimovic as United looked by far the stronger side after the break.

A second was coming and it duly arrived with an impressive team goal 21 minutes from time.

After Carrick dispossessed Tonny Vilhena, Ibrahimovic slipped a pass through to Rooney, who in turn showed great vision to set up Mata to do the rest with a simple finish.

Jones saved from Ibrahimovic in a one-on-one, but the former Liverpool shot stopper was not so fortunate after 75 minutes, with substitute Marcus Rashford finding the Swede, whose attempted cross bounced in off the keeper’s legs.

Rooney was substituted to warm applause in the closing stages after a starring performance, with United on easy street as Feyenoord failed to trouble Romero in the second half.

And late substitute Lingard put the icing on the cake in the 92nd minute, collecting Antonio Valencia’s pass and curling a left-footed shot beyond Jones from outside the area, leaving Mourinho highly satisfied.

Manchester United Will Extend Zlatan Ibrahimovic Contract – Jose Mourinho

Ibrahimovic

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Manchester United will take up the option to extend Zlatan’s deal by an extra year until 2018.

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Manchester United will exercise their option to extend Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract for a second season.

Ibrahimovic, 35, joined United on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer but suggested this week he remains keen to play in Major League Soccer in the future.

“Zlatan’s situation is simple,” Mourinho told a news conference ahead of Thursday’s game against Feyenoord. “He has one plus one. We are happy with him. We are going to execute the option of a second season. After that he can do what he wants.”
The former Sweden international was also at the news conference and, asked about the extension, he said: “For the moment, we haven’t had any discussions. I have a contract that says one [year] plus one.

“I feel good, I feel fresh, I feel in shape, so it will probably be a second year.

“I want to perform like I can do and not waste time. The second year goes automatic after one so, if it continues like this, yes.”

Ibrahimovic has struggled to consistently replicate the form he showed at his previous clubs but, when a journalist suggested that the Swede has not been shining as much as in the past, he replied: “I shine 24 hours. I’m getting older yes, but I’m shining in one way or another but if you want to shine even more I will try to do it for you.

“Once I stepped into the city, the whole city was shining. I feel it shining now 24 hours — even if it gets dark by three or four o’clock. I’m here and I’m having a good time.”

Sport News: I Can Conquer America says Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Sport News: I Can Conquer America says Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Man Utd forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he is eyeing the possibility of a move to the the US.

“I can see myself conquering the US, just as I have (conquered) Europe,” the 35-year-old Swede told daily newspaper Aftonbladet.

“People stay in one place throughout their entire career, but I have travelled around like Napoleon in Europe and conquered every country I’ve arrived in.

“So maybe I could cross the Atlantic and conquer the US as well.”

Ibrahimovic said the Manchester United team he has joined is not as strong as PSG but the decision for him to switch to the Premier League was “an easy one” when Mourinho came calling.

“The team I signed for this summer is not as strong as the one I left, but when Mourinho called the decision was easy. When he calls I have no problem coming, all we had to decide was when I was to be presented as Man U player.

The rest, the financial deal, was not the difficult part,” he explained.

“It was about the challenge really, and I will never say no to a challenge,” added Ibrahimovic. “This is what I wanted; coming to one of the world’s biggest clubs, that has had troubles and not won much of late, and try the Premier League. That is the challenge.”

The Swede told his interviewer about the well-publicised struggles Mourinho’s team had suffered at the start of this season. “We started off well with a few wins in a row,” said Ibrahimovic. “Then we started losing, and we lost playing badly, by several goals. We had a week when we lost three games, that has never happened to me in 15 years.

“There were a few games where I didn’t score and missed too many chances, but these things happen. As long as I’m there and create the chances and get the ball the goals will come.”

On the specific question of whether United could challenge for the title, he said: “I hope so, I believe in what we do. I know the capacity of this team, but it’s still a long way to go. With a bit of luck we should be able to do it.”
