Jurgen Klopp’s 2017 went from bad to worse as Liverpool’s 2-0 loss at Hull City was secured by a goal from Everton loanee Oumar Niasse.

The Reds have endured a miserable recent run and their FA Cup victory over fourth-tier Plymouth Argyle remains their only win this year.

Even the return of the influential Sadio Mane to the starting line-up failed to inspire a revival, with Simon Mignolet again at fault for debutant Alfred N’Diaye’s opener on the stroke of half-time.

The visitors, who did not register a shot on target in the first half, carried a greater threat after the interval, but saw Philippe Coutinho squander the best of their chances.

Having recorded a 5-1 win over Hull in September, the contrast in the fortunes of Klopp’s side then and now was underlined by Niasse’s 84th-minute goal – his first in the Premier League.

For the Tigers, revitalised under Marco Silva, a fourth consecutive home win in all competitions has breathed new life into their flourishing survival bid.

Silva made five changes from the battling 0-0 draw against Manchester United, with Kamil Grosicki and Villarreal loanee N’Diaye coming in for maiden outings.

The Portuguese had one alteration forced upon him as Michael Dawson limped out of the warm-up, with Andrea Ranocchia handed a full Premier League debut.

Mane – so often Liverpool’s key creative force – was recalled, having been a substitute for the draw with Chelsea following his return from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Paco Alcacer ended his long wait for a La Liga goal as Barcelona beat Athletic Bilbao 3-0 at Camp Nou on Saturday.

The Spain international marked a rare start with his first top-flight goal in 11 appearances for the champions before Lionel Messi’s free-kick and an Aleix Vidal strike settled matters against Ernesto Valverde’s side.

Barca were fortunate to escape with a point from their last league outing against Real Betis and they were caused plenty of problems early on by a hard-working Athletic side, although Alcacer’s well-taken finish in the 18th minute sapped some of their early confidence.

Chelsea 3 – 1 Arsenal [Premier League] Highlights 2016/17

Chelsea moved 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League table as they downed Arsenal 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Blues took the lead through Marcos Alonso’s first-half header, with the Spaniard clattering into Hector Bellerin in the process, forcing the Arsenal defender off injured.

Arsenal had a glorious chance to level the scoreline wasted by Gabriel before Eden Hazard found the back of the net after a marvellous solo run after the break.

Cesc Fabregas soon made it 3-0 for Chelsea but the hosts were denied a clean sheet as Olivier Giroud scored a consolation goal for Arsene Wenger’s men

Breaking!!! Super Falcons Storm National Assembly To Protest Non-Payment of Allowances… See Photos!

Members of the female football national team, the Super Falcons, have stormed the National Assembly, protesting the non-payment of their allowances by the Nigerian Football Federation.

The team won the 10th edition of the African Women championship just held in Cameroon.

It was the 8th time Nigeria won the competition.

But, the victorious team members have been held up in a hotel in Abuja, many days after they returned to the country with the trophy, owing to non-payment of their entitlements.

They protest daily on the streets of Abuja and have vowed never to leave the hotel until their allowances were paid.

The ladies are hoping that President Muhammadu Buhari, who is due to visit the National Assembly today to present the estimates of the 2017 budget to lawmakers, will see them and show pity on their plight.

Some of their placards read, “We are your children, pity us”; “Let us respect women”; “female football deserves respect.”

Shocking!!! Nnamdi Kanu Angrily Rants In Abuja Court… Says Buhari Is Mad, He Cannot Jail Me!

Nnamdi Kanu

In a video which emerged online some hours ago, incarcerated pro-Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu, was captured angrily calling the president mad, adding that he can’t be jailed after a secret trial.

The embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, who spoke from the dock at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, angrily said that Nigeria will collapse when he gives his testimony in court as he protests Justice Binta Nyako’s decision to shield witnesses who would testify against him at her court.
According to reports, the court judge, Justice Nyako, held that the names of all the prosecution witnesses who are mostly security operatives, would not be disclosed in any record of the court proceedings also said that the witnesses would be allowed to testify against the defendants behind a screen that would be provided by the court.

Justice Nyako however stressed that both the defendants and their counsel would be allowed to see the witnesses who she said would enter and exit the courtroom through a special door.

However, Kanu immediately rejected the court ruling, insisting that it was against the tenets of Justice and fair hearing. “I won’t stand this travesty of Justice. Buhari spoke in public, he accused me in public. I must also be allowed to stand my trial in public”, Kanu bellowed from the dock. .

“This is nonsense! I will give testimony before this court! By the time I finish, there will be no Nigeria. This is no Sharia court. It is a court that operates under the common law. There will be no screening of witnesses, no fake identities or fake addresses.

“I cannot be tried in secret. No! Nnamdi Kanu cannot be jailed in secret! They are mad. Why must I be tried in secrecy by a government that does not obey court orders. They are killing my people in public, after killing my people they want to try me in private? That person is mad. I won’t allow it,” Kanu fumed.
