Bilateral Trade: Ambode seeks partnership with Israel on agric, technology.

Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Monday expressed the readiness of the State Government to tap into the agricultural expertise and technological advancement of Israel for the greater benefit of the State.

Governor Ambode, who stated this when he received the Ambassador of State of Israel to Nigeria, Mr Guy Feldman at Lagos House, Ikeja on courtesy visit, said it was time for Nigeria and Israel to take full advantage of their long-standing cordial relationship especially by laying greater emphasis on opportunities that would benefit both countries.

The Governor noted with excitement the fact that members of the delegation of the Israeli envoy included the business community, saying that as the economic capital of Nigeria, Lagos was open to partnership that would impact the people positively.
“Lagos remains the heartbeat of Nigeria. We pride ourselves as the most populated and the commercial capital of Nigeria, as well as the fifth largest economy in Africa.

“We know that Israel is one of the huge tech-savvy countries that you have across the world and obviously for a city that is growing and still counting, we believe strongly that this visit is more instructive for us and we would like to take advantage of the technological advancement that we see across the world being done by mostly Israelis and also things that have to do with agricultural expertise.

“On that note, I welcome this visitation and I also think we should follow it up and make sure that the two countries as we represent Nigeria also here, that we should have greater inroads into the successes that have been recorded by Israel and also to ensure that we put that to our advantage in a cosmopolitan city like Lagos,” Governor Ambode said.

Besides, the Governor assured of the commitment of his administration to continue to protect foreigners including Israelis and all Lagosians, saying that in the last 22 months, concerted efforts have been geared towards security and judicial sector reforms, as government remained very high in keeping the city safe.
Earlier, Feldman said he was at Lagos House to further advance relationship with Lagos State, being the heartbeat of Nigeria.
“Nigeria is not only the giant of Africa and whatever people might think, Africa is on the verge of huge success globally and looking at Nigeria, I am sitting at the centre of its beating heart (Lagos) and you can feel that actually.

“This is my first visit out of Abuja and looking at the tone of our reception by the Governor, I am certain we are in for a cordial relationship with the State,” Feldman said.

Mount Etna eruptions create river of fire
Europe's largest active volcano, Mount Etna, has been attracting many visitors to Catania, Italy since beginning a spectacular series of eruptions in February.

Lava continues to flow from a fracture at the base of the southeast crater on Sunday.

The volcano erupted on February 28 and March 16, spewing lava hundreds of feet into the air.
The eruptions have boosted local tourism but also proved dangerous. Ten people were injured by the eruption on March 16.

A popular foreign media publishing company, INSIDER via its Twitter page, @thisisinsider, shared a video of popular Nigerian snack, ‘Puff Puff’ calling it ‘loukoumades’, and Nigerians were not going to have any of that!

In some reactions on Twitter, they can be seen forcing the foreigners to accept the snack’s name as ‘Puff Puff’ and not the complex name, “loukoumades” given to it.

2. TBoss

The Queen herself.. She has the movement, #BossNation on Social Media, and she’s the most controversial housemate in the house, after ThinTallTony of course. TBoss has been up for Possible eviction a lot.. But has scaled through.

When TBoss was in primary school boarding, she struggled with loneliness and making friends, often attracting the wrong crowd.

Abisola says she was a spoilt child till age 8 when her then well-off family hit some major hurdles.

Her fame began when she contested in the 2008 edition of MTN Project Fame and this is what she has to say about how the competition helped her; “Project Fame helped me in the movie industry. The first director I got to work with was a D.O.P on Project fame. ” – Bisola revealed.

“The first and second directors I worked with were working on Project Fame, so, it did help.”

Abisola is part of the radio station WFM 91.7 (Nigeria’s 1st Radio station for WOMEN and their families).

She had to move to rural Nigeria where she lived with cousins selling make up and she got another shot at the high life when she came fifth in a reality singing competition.

She’s single and her last relationship hit the rock because she couldn’t handle the long-distance and they had issues a lot.

Her pet peeve is disrespect and it gets her really angry. “I’ve never been in fights; I’ll finish you with my mouth.”

5. Debie-Rise

Oluwarise Deborah Ebun (born December 20, 1992) popularly known as Debie Rise, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, reality televison star and self-professed tomboy. She was born in Ogun state, Nigeria.

Debbie Olu-Rise emerged the first runner- up of the third season of Nigerian Idols in 2013. She is a graduate of Computer Science with a major in Graphics and Web Application Development from the Federal University of Technology, Yola.

She has performed at major events within and outside the country including Felabration, Afropolitan Vibes at Freedom Park, the National Museum, Fotoplus Award night, Purple Account event powered by Wema Bank at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Five-year old Ajibola got his polio vaccination today on his way to a playdate. The polio immunisation drops were administrated by Ridwan, one of the community volunteers living in the area. 

Ridwan is a familiar face to his neighbours as he and his team have been going door-to-door during the past few days letting everyone in the community know that they can get their children vaccinated against polio.

 These door-to-door visits are part of an Africa-wide polio vaccination campaign taking place this week. During the campaign, more than 190,000 polio vaccinators in 13 countries across west and central Africa will immunize more than 116,000 million children to tackle the last remaining stronghold of polio on the continent.
