Smashing success: Dallas business fulfills people's fantasy of beating Commander-in-Chief
Would you pay 500 US dollars to beat a Donald Trump dummy?
Residents of Dallas, Texas with a spare 25 US dollars lying around can use that money to vent in a so-called “Anger Room.” But that’s just for the basic service.
The most expensive set-up allows clients to, for 500 US dollars, beat a Trump mannequin for five minutes inside a replica of the Oval Office.
“Forget Donald Trump’s pledge to make America great again, he’s made America hate again – the bookings have gone through the roof,” 31-year-old Donna Alexander said. It’s unclear whether Trump’s policies will enrich American businesses, but for this company at least, business is booming.
Alexander started the business in a garage full of junk in 2008. Back then, most of her clients were just friends.
She dropped her day job at a steakhouse in 2011 to focus on letting people vent their anger.
At first, clients were being charged 5 US dollars per session. Prices have gone up since those early days and demand continues to grow, thanks to people’s anger.
Psychologist Jennifer Hartstein doubts if this approach helps people. She said it may even get people angrier.
Alexander says it is absolutely normal to feel anger. “If you haven’t ever felt like that, maybe you are the crazy one.”
