A former US jail in Phoenix, Arizona has been transformed into a home for abused or neglected animals.
Inmates at a nearby women’s prison have been tasked with caring for the dogs and cats as part of their rehabilitation program.
The initiative was adopted by MCSO Animal Safe Haven (MASH) Unit in a former jail that has been a shelter for animals since 2000.
The program in Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has seen success, with animals being adopted after their training and inmates finding jobs in the pet industry after finishing their sentences.
