Trump willing to use engagement on DPRK crisis: S. Korea envoy

Trump willing to use engagement on DPRK crisis: S. Korea envoy

US President Donald Trump told South Korea's presidential envoy that Washington wss willing to resolve the DPRK's nuclear crisis through engagement under the right conditions, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported on Thursday.

Trump has said "a major, major conflict" with the DPRK was possible and all options were on the table but wanted to resolve the crisis diplomatically and peacefully, possibly through the use of economic sanctions.

South Korea's new President Moon Jae-in who took office last week has campaigned on a more moderate approach towards the DPRK but has said Pyongyang must change its attitude of insisting on arms development before dialogue was possible.

Moon's envoy to Washington, South Korean media mogul Hong Seok-hyun, said Trump spoke of the willing to use "engagement" to create peace on the Korean Peninsula, Yonhap news quoted Hong as saying.

But the United States will not have any dialogue with the DPRK for the sake of dialogue and the use of pressure was the premise in the approach to Pyongyang, Hong quoted Trump as saying, according to Yonhap.

Trump's comments could not immediately be independently verified.

The DPRK conducted its latest ballistic missile test on Sunday in defiance of UN Security Council resolutions, saying it was a test of its capability to carry a "large-size heavy nuclear warhead."
Pyongyang has vowed to develop a missile mounted with a nuclear warhead that can strike the mainland United States. However, a senior DPRK diplomat has said Pyongyang was open to having talks with Washington under the right conditions.

The program in Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has seen success, with animals being adopted after their training and inmates finding jobs in the pet industry after finishing their sentences.

Trailblazer: Afghan woman on round-the-world solo flight

lawson james blog entertainment newsBorn in a refugee camp, Shaesta Waiz was a timid child afraid of airplanes. Now she is the first certified civilian female pilot in the war-torn country of Afghanistan.

Waiz arrived in Montreal, Canada on the third leg of her worldwide solo flight on Monday. She will stop in 18 countries across five continents to complete the over 40,000-kilometer journey.
While most industries have made significant efforts to attract females in the last few decades, the aviation industry is still lagging behind.
Over 600,000 active pilots have licenses in the US, but only about six percent are women, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The 29-year-old Waiz launched the solo flight in part to inspire a new generation of female pilots to consider careers in male-dominated technical fields like aviation.
