203 people jailed - lawsonjamesblog news

Egypt on Tuesday released 203 prisoners who had been jailed for protest-related cases, media reports said.
President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi had pardoned the prisoners a day earlier.
The move came after the president pledged in October to amend a law on assembly and protests, evaluating the cases of youths imprisoned in politically-related crimes.

UPDATE: Death toll from Ethiopia garbage landslide rises to at least 72

Ethiopia's parliament has declared three days of national mourning for the victims of the garbage dump landslide in the capital, Addis Ababa.

Recovery operations continue with fears that the number may yet go up. It's believed there were around 150 people at the rubbish dump when the landslide happened at the weekend.

Many fear it's unlikely anyone will be pulled from the rubbish alive at this stage. Makeshift homes have been buried under tons of waste.
